How to Setup
Xtream Codes API on XCIPTV Player for Android TV

Complete 2026 guide to setting up XCIPTV Player with your Xtream Codes API credentials on Android TV boxes — NVIDIA Shield, Mi Box, Chromecast with Google TV, and more. Server URL, username, password, EPG, and remote navigation.

What Is XCIPTV Player?

XCIPTV Player is a powerful IPTV app built for Android TV and mobile devices. It is designed to work seamlessly with Android TV boxes like NVIDIA Shield TV, Mi Box / Mi TV Stick, Chromecast with Google TV, Nokia Streaming Box, and other Android TV / Google TV devices. The app supports both M3U playlists and Xtream Codes API login, and its interface is optimized for TV remote navigation.

XCIPTV Player

  • Free IPTV player for Android TV / Google TV
  • Supports Xtream Codes API & M3U URLs
  • Native Android TV leanback UI with remote control
  • Built-in EPG, parental controls, VOD, catch-up
  • Internal & external player support
  • Google Play Store installation — no sideloading needed

Xtream Codes API

  • Login method used by most IPTV providers
  • Requires: Server URL + Username + Password
  • Automatically loads channels, VOD, series, EPG
  • No manual playlist file needed
  • Faster login and channel loading than M3U
  • Works with all Android TV devices natively

Step-by-Step Setup for Android TV

Follow these 8 steps to setup Xtream Codes API on XCIPTV Player for your Android TV box. All steps work with the standard Android TV remote.

1

Install XCIPTV Player from Google Play Store

On your Android TV home screen, navigate to the Google Play Store app. Use the search icon (magnifying glass) and type "XCIPTV Player". Select the app by M.W.D and click Install. The app is free and takes about 30 seconds to download and install.

Android TV tip: If you have a Chromecast with Google TV, the Play Store is under the "Apps" tab on the home screen. On NVIDIA Shield, it is in the app launcher row. You do NOT need to sideload XCIPTV on Android TV.
2

Launch XCIPTV Player & Accept Permissions

Open XCIPTV Player from your Android TV app launcher. The app will ask for permission to access files on your device — select Allow. On Android TV, you can navigate using the d-pad arrows on your remote and press OK/Select (center button) to confirm. The app will show a welcome screen with setup options.

3

Select "Login with Xtream Codes API"

On the welcome screen, you will see two options: "M3U URL" and "Xtream Codes API". Use your remote's d-pad to highlight "Xtream Codes API" and press OK to select. This method loads your entire channel list, VOD library, series, and EPG automatically from your provider's server — no playlist file needed.

4

Enter Your Server URL, Username & Password

A login form appears with three fields. On Android TV, the on-screen keyboard will appear for each field. Use your remote to type:

  • Server URL — e.g. http://your-iptv-server.com:8080
  • Username — the username provided by your IPTV service
  • Password — the password provided by your IPTV service
Android TV tip: Typing with a remote is slow. Use the voice search button on your remote to dictate the server URL (works on most Android TV remotes). You can also connect a USB keyboard or use the Android TV Remote app on your phone for faster input.
5

Select EPG Source

After entering credentials, the app may prompt you to add an EPG URL. Many providers include EPG data automatically via Xtream Codes API, so you can leave this field blank and tap Next. If your provider gave you a separate EPG link, enter it here. The EPG gives you program schedules for the next 7–14 days.

Tip: You can always add or change the EPG URL later from the app's Settings menu if you skip this step.
6

Configure Internal Player (Recommended for Android TV)

XCIPTV will ask you to choose a player. The Internal Player is recommended for Android TV because it is optimized for remote controls and supports hardware acceleration on most devices. Use your remote to select Internal Player and press OK.

  • Internal Player — Best for Android TV. Remote-friendly, hardware accelerated, supports most codecs.
  • External Player — Use VLC or MX Player if you experience buffering or codec issues.
7

Sign In & Browse Channels

Tap "Sign In" at the bottom of the screen. XCIPTV will connect to your provider's server via Xtream Codes API. If the credentials are correct, your channel list, VOD, and series will load within a few seconds. Use the d-pad on your remote to navigate categories, scroll through channels, and press OK to start watching. The Android TV leanback UI makes browsing smooth with large tiles and clear text.

8

Navigate with Your Android TV Remote

XCIPTV is fully optimized for Android TV remote controls. Here are the key controls:

  • Up / Down — Scroll through channel list or categories
  • Left / Right — Switch between tabs (Live TV, VOD, Series, Catch-up)
  • OK / Select — Play a channel or open a menu option
  • Back — Go back to previous screen
  • Voice Search — Hold the microphone button and say a channel name
  • Home — Exit XCIPTV and return to Android TV home

Android TV Troubleshooting

Fix common XCIPTV issues specific to Android TV boxes and Google TV devices.

"Failed to Load" on Android TV

  • Check your Wi-Fi connection — go to Android TV Settings → Network & Internet to verify.
  • Restart your router and Android TV box — a simple reboot often fixes connectivity issues.
  • Verify the date and time are correct — go to Settings → Device Preferences → Date & Time and enable "Automatic date & time" (incorrect time causes SSL/API errors).
  • Try changing your DNS to Google DNS (8.8.8.8) in your router or Android TV network settings.
  • If using a VPN on Android TV, try disconnecting — some VPNs block IPTV server ports.

"Invalid Credentials" on Login

  • Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive — re-enter carefully using the remote keyboard.
  • Check that the server URL includes the correct port (e.g. :8080 or :8880).
  • Use the voice search feature on your remote to dictate the server URL — fewer typos.
  • Contact your IPTV provider to confirm your subscription is active.

No Channels Showing After Login

  • Log out and sign back in — sometimes a fresh sync reloads the channel list.
  • Clear app data: Android TV Settings → Apps → XCIPTV Player → Clear Data / Clear Cache.
  • Reinstall the app from the Play Store if the issue persists.
  • Your provider may need to assign a lineup to your account — contact support.

Buffering / Freezing on Android TV

  • Switch to the Internal Player — it is better optimized for Android TV hardware decoding.
  • If buffering continues, install VLC from the Play Store and switch to External Player.
  • Use an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi for the most stable connection.
  • Close other apps running in the background on your Android TV box.
